Let’s live in the music flow with excerpts from the musical “Maria de Buenos Aires” by musician Piazzola, early Tango songs like “El choclo”, “La Cumpasita”, … and the sharing of conductor Philippe Lesburgueres about the story behind his works.
1. Conductor Philippe Lesburgueres
Philippe Lesburgueres is a French conductor conducting symphony orchestra and choir. He has directed many popular contemporary classical music. After graduating from the Sorbonne and the Paris Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique et de Danse – where he won many prestigious awards. His enthusiasm in Baroque music led him to work with well-known conductors Jordi Savall And Franz Bruggen. In 1985, his fateful meeting with the legendary Asto Piazzolla encouraged him to learn the fine style of Nuevo Tango; and his encounter with Gyorgy Ligeti gave him the opportunity to command the most classic works of Ligeti around the world. They are still the best of friends to this day. Philippe was formerly the director of the French Cultural Conservation Institute abroad, where he started the creation of creative pedagogical organizations and also a lot of new repertoire. Passionate about the combination of different art forms, Philippe conducted countless performances that brought theatre actors, visual artists, choreographers and circus artists together, create important links to promote culture and art and reflect the essential aspirations of people.
2. Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre
Founded on August 6th, 1959, with 114 performing artists, experienced generations of dedicated artists with the profession, the orchestra has grown and become more professional with a variety of programs.
The orchestra has performed many major programs including symphony, chamber music, ballet and musicals, with renowned national and international conductors. The orchestra once brought the public many typical works of famous musicians of all ages from classical to modern such as Puccini, Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Elga, Saint-Saens, Stravinsky, Bernstein …
In conjunction with this year’s Philippe Lesburgueres in Conducting the “Fall Tango Version”, the Orchestra of the Hanoi Opera and Ballet Theater includes: string quartet, 1 string, 1 Piano, 1 Accordeon, 1 Guitar, 1 Flute, 1 Vocal.
