Hanoi Academy significant edge in the International Math Olympiad

Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad is a prestigious competition with the participation of 24 countries. The competition aims to motivate and breed the passion of young generation with mathematics, enhance the creative thinking of students from primary to high school, as well as bring the opportunity of cultural exchange worldwide. In the school year 2021-2022, the TIMO is held for the eighth time in the world and for the third time in Viet Nam.

Taking the advantage of being an International bilingual school, Hanoi Academy has guided its students to approach and achieve great results year by year in this competition. The competition requires knowledge in the field of Mathematics, mainly focused on the improvement of logical and applied thinking such as Algebra; Number theory; Geometry and Combinatorics. A huge advantage of HA students is that they have been studying and using English as a second language since kindergarten, therefore, it is easy for them to be able to deal with International mathematics in terms of language and learn how to think about Maths like native learners. Besides, having studied in the Vietnamese curriculum, which strictly follows the guideline of The Ministry of Education and Training, also allows them to identify the similarities between the two curricula, and thereby become more creative and perceptive in their mathematical thinking.

In this school year 2021-2022, with one semester studying online due to the covid-19 pandemic, Hanoi Academy still attracts the attention and registration of many students who are passionate about mathematics to join the competition. It is more meaningful this year as 8 grade 11 and 3 grade 9 students won the golden prize with unprecedented scores. This competition is also a good opportunity for those students who are studying in grade 11 and grade 9 since they have been studying and have been able to manage a wide range of knowledge from secondary to high school; knowledge related to logical thinking, algebra, number theory, geometry and combinatorics. Most of the students who attend the competition are intelligent, diligent, responsible and decisive. They can effectively build their learning strategies with very specific and clear goals under the guidance of teachers. Besides, studying abroad is one of HA students’ top priorities, therefore, The Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad competition is a challenge for them to enrich their academic profiles to gain personal competitive advantage and impress the admissions department of top universities in the world.
